Even though Visma Enterprise is a highly technology-matured organization, it’s hard to figure out how to get started with AI. They needed to get started the right way with an approach that would lead to fast learning, focus on real business value, and utilizing the fact that a few dedicated employees were extremely eager to work with AI. Critical questions included:

• What is AI, Generative AI, and AI trends to take into account? How do we get started utilizing it and which pitfalls should we avoid in our journey from zero to AI-hero?
• How do we form a team to kick off an ambitious AI initiative, how should they work, and which AI technologies should we use?
• What kind of business challenges could be suitable for the first AI proof-of-concept solution to learn fast?

To kick off the AI initiative, Visma Enterprise invited BotTellMe to inspire the organization with an AI presentation at a town hall meeting. This presentation explained what AI is, ethical dilemmas, investigated key trends in AI, and presented real-life use cases to inspire Visma Enterprise.

Only two days after, we kicked-off an internal AI team with the purpose to get started quickly, learn fast and validate the possibilities of utilizing AI in their organization within 40 days.

In weekly advisory meetings with the AI team, we supported their progress with technical assistance to get their first prototype done in record time. During this process we combined effective product development with technical discoveries and up-skilling their employees by use of a highly agile approach.

After these 40 days, Visma Enterprise publicly shared their AI journey on social media, telling the story about how they got from zero to AI hero in record time. 

In just 40 days, Visma Enterprise moved from idea to functional AI prototype addressing a real business need. This was possible due to this:

• Loud and clear support to the AI initiative from senior management from day 1
• A small, dedicated, and empowered team was formed. Their calendars were cleared to help them stay focused.
• A clear goal and timeframe were defined from day one: Make an AI powered prototype in 40 days addressing a real business challenge.
• Assistance from external experts (BotTellMe) along the way to guide all types of decisions along the way
• We defined a learning process based on sort experiments, tests, and trial and errors to learn fast. It’s all about getting started, not trying to figure it out first.
